Working with community service providers across Devon
We had a fantastic morning last week meeting with many professionals who work across Devon with the community. The 'Discover More' event aimed to inform as many stakeholders and partenrs about the service, all about the service offer and answer any questions people may have, along with meeting the team.It was a productive day had by all and the start of a journey working with many community or voluntary sector organisations, health or social care professionals. More ifnormation is soon to follow including FAQ's and presentations from the day.

OneSmallStep at the Cranbrook community event
OneSmallStep supported the team and took part in the Fun Day held in March. It was the first community event for OneSmallStep since the service launched. It was wonderful to get involved and provide information around how the free wellbeing service can support people to a healthier lifestyle.Learn more...

It's got everything needed to help people to quit, and by taking the support to communities it's more accessible than ever.Currently running a weekly outreach clinic at Ilfracombe Tesco every Monday morning. More outreach clinics to follow soon.

New Healthy Lifestyle Service Launching in Devon 1st February 2017
A new free healthy lifestyle service commissioned by Devon County Council aims to help the increasing number of adults at risk of developing a long-term health conditions take small steps toward a healthier lifestyle.OneSmallStep, provided by leading health services organisation Optum, in partnership with Solutions 4 Health, which will provide specialist stop smoking services - will help Devon’s residents adopt healthy life choices and reduce their risk of more serious health issues.

Sugar Smart City Initiative Launch

Racquet sports like tennis can improve both muscle health as well as aerobic health
"If you want to stave off death for as long as possible, you might want to reach for a tennis racquet," The Guardian reports.
A study looking at the impact of individual sports on mortality found racquet sports reduced the risk of death by around 47%.
